Sneakers have been so popular lately, and I am so here for this trend! Gone are the days when the only time you wore sneakers was to the gym or outdoor activities. They have become quite the fashion statement, and not only is it incredibly comfy rather than wearing heels for every outfit, but it’s super cute! While it is so easy to see photos on Instagram of your favorite influencers wearing sneakers with a dress or skirt, it can be difficult to figure out how to pull it off with your own style. Here are a few different tips on how to wear sneakers with a dress or skirt and I have photo examples to show you. Go ahead and grab your favorite sneakers, a skirt, or dress you love, and let’s get to styling!
How to Wear Sneakers with a Skirt: Chunky Sweaters
Wearing oversized sweaters with sneakers is one of my favorite ways to wear sneakers and a skirt together. I like this style so much because it is the perfect balance between casual and feminine. By choosing neutral-colored sweaters and light-colored sneakers, they go together perfectly without looking mix-matched. Using this way to wear sneakers with a skirt, the skirt is the focal point of the outfit. You can play up your skirt to be however feminine and bold you want! To add some more chic style to the outfit, definitely accessorize, but you don’t want to overdo it. Grab your favorite bag, a few rings, and you will be good to go. If you choose too many fancy accessories while wearing sneakers, you run the risk of looking like you grabbed the wrong pair of shoes when you left the house!
How to Wear Sneakers with a Skirt: Neutral Tones
I love this sporty look of wearing sneakers and a skirt. These outfits are so easy to put together but still look fashionable and you’re ready to have a fun day! If you have trouble pairing sneakers with a skirt or dress, then choosing neutral tones is a great way to get started. Without adding any accessories, this look would still be cute but would be more casual. I always add a matching cross-body bag to add to the comfort and casual effect. Plus, I like the look of layering my bracelets to sparkle it up more. The accessories are really what turns this sneaker and skirt outfit from sporty to chic!
How to Wear Sneakers with a Dress: Bold Accessories
Pairing together sneakers and a dress can be so effortless. Dresses are great outfits on their own since they are quick to style and put together. Adding on sneakers makes the look even more simple to put together! Since there isn’t a top or skirt here to off-balance the sneakers’ casual essence, I love to go bold with my dress style. Here I went with eye catching styles, which matched great with the bright white sneakers. To make this outfit even bolder, add in your favorite accessories. A simple headband or belt can go a long way when dressing up a sneaker outfit!
How To Wear Sneakers with a Dress: Denim Jacket
Denim jackets are perfect for making any outfit look more casual and sporty. Most of the time, when I choose to wear sneakers with an outfit rather than heels or sandals, it is because I want to be more comfortable. These light t-shirt dresses go along so well with many different pairs of sneakers. A denim jacket is always my go-to to add a layer to the outfit to spice it up more. Whether wrapped around your waist or draped over your shoulders, it will match great with your sneakers and t-shirt dress. Pairing sneakers with a dress and denim jacket is my go-to outfit for travel days or long days of shopping!
Wearing dresses and sneakers is a quick, easy and comfortable way to be looking fashionable and be out the door without spending too much time putting together an entire outfit. If you have a long day of shopping, an outdoor festival to go to, or a fun lunch date, then wearing sneakers would be perfect! You’ll look cute, put-together, and will be comfortable while you are out and about. I’m sure you have a few pieces in your wardrobe already that you could practice with to put together your fashion sneaker outfit.
