I am so excited to finally share my daily skincare routine. I have fairly normal skin, with a few areas that get dry around my mouth and a few areas that get slightly oily on my forehead. The technical term for this is combination skin. Regardless of your skin type, I think most of the products I share should work well for you! I try to purchase clean and cruelty free skincare products. It’s really easy to do this at Sephora because you can filter by “Clean at Sephora” while shopping. Right now, you can get 10%-20% off using the code SPRINGSAVE. You can also always get 15% off your Tula order with my code “maxieelise”.
Morning Skincare Routine:
Tula Replenishing Cleansing Oil: I recommend using a double cleanse method to wash your face. If you tend to have dry skin, you can only do this at night, but I like doing it both morning and night. You should start with an oil or balm based cleanser like this one, and then follow with a water or gel based cleanser. The oil will help remove pore-clogging debris and also helps hydrate. Don’t worry, it doesn’t leave your face feeling oily at all! I use a different balm based cleanser in the evenings that I’ll talk more about later!
Foreo Luna: This is my absolute favorite cleansing device. I use this when I apply my gel/water based cleanser. It helps deeply cleanse your skin and the massaging surface helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I have the Luna 2 for normal skin.
Tula Purifying Face Cleanser: This is a gel based cleanser that removes makeup, excess oil and cleans your pores gently. It leaves your skin glowing and balanced. It works great for all skin types! I love that all of Tula’s products include probiotics.
Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Toner: I recommend using an alcohol-free toner like this one. You should always use toner as the immediate step after you cleanse your face. The main benefit is to exfoliate dead skin cells and remove excess dirt and oil. This toner also includes probiotics, glycolic acid, and beetroot extract to leave skin smooth and hydrated.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: These pads have lactic and glycolic acid in them to exfoliate, tone and brighten. If you have sensitive skin, you should ease these into your skincare routine, especially if you try out the toner I recommended because they both have glycolic acid. I like using both the toner and pads and have found that the pads help enhance skin texture and give a good glow. You can use them once daily or both am and pm.
Vitamin C Serum: The last few years I used Drunk Elephant C-Firma which I love and recommend. I recently switched to Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. The Drunk Elephant option is more affordable than Skinceuticals if cost is a factor for you. The main benefit of a Vitamin C serum is to help brighten skin. It will also improve signs of aging and reduce lines and wrinkles.
Tula Acne Clearing & Tone Correcting Gel: This gel includes salicylic acid to help fight and prevent acne. It will also help fade any old blemish marks. It’s not drying on skin either!
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Serum: This serum is super hydrating and improves skin tone and texture without leaving your skin oily. I use this year round, but I especially recommend it in the winter or any time you’re experiencing problems with dry skin. I make sure to apply this on my neck and chest too. You can mix this in with any serum, cream or oil when you apply it.
Tula 24-7 Moisture Cream: I absolutely love this as a daytime moisturizer. It makes my skin feel super soft and hydrated. I like something very thick and heavy at night, but this is the perfect amount of hydrating for daytime. It will also help firm skin and improve fine lines and wrinkles.
Biossance Squalane & Marine Algae Eye Cream: I’ve tried tons of eye creams, and this has been my favorite so far. I always look for eye creams that are really hydrating, and this one definitely is. It also helps reduce any fine lines or wrinkles. Just remember, nothing will work miracles, but I did notice more of a difference compared to any other eye cream I’ve tried.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Lip Pop: I love using this in the morning because it is a scrub to balm so it will help smooth and hydrate your lips. It’s a great way to prime your lips before applying lipstick, and it smells like watermelon.
SPF: There are a few SPF products I recommend. It’s most important to make sure you’re using one every day! My favorites are Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, Supergoop Zincscreen, and Tula Daily Sunscreen. I would recommend reading the product descriptions and reviews to see what you’re looking for because you can’t go wrong with these!
Evening Skincare Routine:
Farmacy Green Clean: This balm is amazing! It seriously melts the makeup right off of your face. No need to use wipes or towels that can pull on your skin.
Tula So Polished Sugar Scrub: Once or twice a week, I will use an exfoliating scrub instead of the purifying face cleanser. Sugar scrubs are great because sugar is a natural exfoliant that dissolves in water. This really leaves your skin smoother and brighter!
Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Toner: After I cleanse, I use my toner that I use in my morning skincare routine.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: I mentioned these pads in the am skincare routine. Some days I’ll use them twice daily and some days just morning or night. It depends on your skin sensitivity.
AHA/BHA Serum: Farmacy Honeymoon Glow or Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos are my favorite AHA/BHA serums. I was using the Drunk Elephant one for the last few years, but the Farmacy one is less expensive and works just as well, if not better! AHA/BHA serums resurface skin and remove dead skin cells to help with skin tone, hyperpigmentation, skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles & pores.
Retinol: I am currently out of my retinol product. I recommend seeing if your dermatologist would provide a prescription one. If insurance will cover it, it’s usually cheaper and way higher strength than anything you can get at a store like Sephora. If getting one from a dermatologist isn’t an option for you, I recommend the Sunday Riley Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil. I used to use this before getting a prescription one, and Tyler uses it every night.
Night Cream: A few night creams I love are Farmacy Sleep Tight, Youth to the People Hydrate & Glow Dream Mask, and Tula Beauty Sleep. These are all great at providing a ton of moisture. I love a really heavy night cream. I also just ordered The Quench Rapid Recovery Facial Moisturizer to try.
Tan Luxe Face & Body Tanning Drops: These are the best tanning drops I’ve tried! I mix the face tanning drops in my nightly moisturizer every night as I find my face tan fades quicker than my body tan. I’ll use the body tanning drops 1-2 times per week depending on how quickly my self tanner fades.
Biossance Squalane & Marine Algae Eye Cream: I use the same eye cream in the evening that I use in the morning.
Lash Serum: I use a lash serum every night. I’ve really noticed a difference. I use Latisse which you have to get through a dermatologist. If you prefer to get one at a store like Sephora, I’ve heard great things about GrandeLASH.
Bliss Sugar Lip Scrub: I like using a lip scrub a few times a week. It really helps your lip color go on smoother and this one has natural oils and vitamins to nourish your lips too.
Laneige Lip Sleep Mask: This lip mask is amazing! It keeps my lips so soft. Sometimes, I apply it in the morning too. I cannot recommend it enough! I saw that Milk Beauty has a similar option that is marked “Clean at Sephora” so I just ordered that to compare and try.
St. Tropez Self Tanner: This self tanner is great and doesn’t make you orange or smell bad. I like using a self tanner once per week. I get the dark, but there are lighter and darker color options.
NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device: NuFaces are incredible! It uses microcurrents to improve facial contour, tone and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It makes a big difference, especially if you can commit to using it daily.
