Living in a home that smells good brings me so much joy. It can be so relaxing and it’s just so important for the overall atmosphere of your home. I always strive for a warm and welcoming vibe in my home and I want it to be an enjoyable space for everyone – including guests! Thoroughly and routinely washing your clothes, blankets, pillow covers, etc. can make a huge difference. Be sure to use a combination of these laundry scent-boosting options:
Pura, Febreeze, or any of those wall plug-in brands are super useful too. I love all of the scent options that they offer and when I have multiple plug-in’s throughout the home, I use the same scent for all of them to make it extra strong and cohesive.
Kitchens can often be the source of bad smells, whether it’s old food or dirty areas. It’s important to have a clean-smelling kitchen because otherwise it’s not a nice place to cook in. Here’s a few tips to keeping your kitchen smelling good:
Diffusers with essential oils is another great way to add some nice and calming scents to a space. Amazon sells so many different styles to create whatever ambiance you want – such as a fireplace or rain clouds.
Clean pets make such a difference in the way your house smells as well. It’s important to bathe or groom your dogs often and let them out regularly to avoid accidents. Litter boxes can be extremely smelly so it’s important to take good care of that area specifically. Tips to keeping your litter box smelling good:
An air purifying device can also make such a difference in eliminating lingering odors! If you have a litter box, this would make a great addition to the space.
Potpourri is a combination of dried flowers, citrus and other natural elements. I love that it not only smells fresh but it also makes for pretty bowl filler! I think that potpourri works especially wall in a small space such as a bathroom. You can add essential oils to the potpourri to refresh the scent as well.
A quick spritz of fabric spray every now and then can give the fabrics in your home a great scent boost. This is an especially great way to keep your bedding fresh between washes and does a great job at eliminating pet odors. You can find these from many retailers, such as Amazon, or make it yourself and add it to an empty spray bottle.
A simmer pot is a fun and easy way to make your whole home smell nice. The scent carries through the whole home and makes such a difference. A simmer pot is basically when you boil water and add essential oils and other natural elements – such as flowers, citrus slices, cinnamon sticks, etc. I love that you can make them very seasonal and festive smelling, for example, apple slices and cinnamon sticks in a simmer pot feels like wrapping your whole home in a warm fall blanket. There are so many fun simmer pot recipes to try on Pinterest!
Homemade or store bought air freshening sprays can do a wonderful job at fighting bad odors and refreshing your space. There are so many great recipes for this on Pinterest as well!
Essential oils can be used so many different ways. You can add it to candles, diffusers, simmer pots, laundry, fabric sprays, air freshener sprays, etc. You can really add it to most cleaning supplies and it’ll leave wonderful and subtle scents.
I’m such a candle fan because they not only smell incredible but they also set such a cozy ambiance! The wood wick candles create an even cozier feel with the crackling sound it creates as it burns. A candle warmer lamp is also a great way to make a candle scent last longer and the glow from the lamp is so calming and inviting as well.
I love to open the windows or back door on a nice day. A natural breeze throughout the space is a great way to air out lingering smells and give your home a refreshing scent.
