A couple years ago, I decided to tackle a monster of an organization project; my kitchen. I organized the cupboards, my fridge, under the kitchen sink, and several kitchen drawers! Drawer organization is an essential part of your cooking space and food preparation. They store so many important – and small – items, so keeping that space tidy can be quite a challenge at times. Today I’ll be breaking down the drawer organizers I used and exactly how to organize your kitchen drawers.
Today, I’ll be showing the before and after of my kitchen drawers! I’ll also be breaking down how exactly you should organize your supplies and drawers, and what to use to keep the space functioning.
Before organizing kitchen drawers, they were a mess! They were hard to close and often made it difficult to find the obscure tool I needed. I replaced a lot of my mismatched and overused utensils, and purchased drawer dividers! The difference was outstanding.
Organized kitchen drawers are not only about aesthetics but more so about functionality! Grabbing items, prepping food with friends, and putting away clean dishes can all be seamless activities when your kitchen is well kept. Kitchen drawers should store small items, such as tools or even ingredients. Drawer dividers are the best way to keep your spaces organized and today I’m showing you exactly how to use them!
If you’re also wondering how to organize spices, this should be helpful too! Laying out my spices in this organizer rack is a great way to see all of them and grab the one you need! It can be so time consuming to dig for the right spice jar in a cupboard, so using this organizer and displaying them alphabetically has been amazing! Organizing deep kitchen drawers can be a big task, so dividers really make a difference! I also used this drawer to store supplements, tea and electrolyte packets!

Deep narrow kitchen drawers are always a great place to store dish rags and kitchen towels! I store my seasonal ones at that bottom and favorite ones at the top. If you have a large, deep drawer, you could also use this space to be a linen drawer and store placemats and tablecloths.
A large, deep drawer can also be a great space to stack and store pots and pans in your kitchen. They can be so large and clunky so storing them in lower, large drawers can actually make them much easier to access – as opposed to high up.
Drawer dividers can be a great way to still give the drawer some structure and order. This can be an especially good solution if you have extra dishes or larger serving bowls and plates for hosting and holidays.
If the space is large enough, it can be a great storage drawer for kitchen tools like a blender, crock pot, vegetable chopper, etc. However, I don’t recommend storing heavier equipment at too low of a height because it can cause an injury!
You could always store food, such as snacks at your children’s level to allow them independence. Dry goods, such as noodles and ingredients, could also be a good solution.

I organized my utensil drawers with this drawer dividers! My drawers look so much better and have actually stayed organized now that every item it’s own space. The flatware, measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a couple small kitchen tools fit perfectly in this space. This is a smaller drawer in my kitchen but this specific organizer is actually expandable! So it can fit to your drawer perfectly!

Storing small and delicate items in a smaller space can prevent the items from getting lost, broken, or cluttered. Small kitchen items can include glass straws, wine glass charms, chopsticks, skewer sticks, wine stoppers, etc.
Before this, my drawer was over flowing with ladles and spatulas. I used another expandable drawer organizer to perfectly fit my drawer and I love how it gave you the ability to customize the middle compartment as well. My tools look so much better and well organized!

Small items will definitely get lost in large pull out kitchen drawers. I recommend storing larger items such as equipment, mixing bowls and serving platters. This can also be a great place to store canned goods or linens, but be sure to take advantage of the height offered by these drawers as well! Kitchen space can fill up so quickly, so it’s important to maximize all of your space and plan accordingly!
Perhaps you use your crock pot or blender more often than a food processor and ice cream maker. I’d store the items I use more often towards the front so I can easily access them. Items that you reach for less make the most sense towards the back of the drawers because you don’t have to dig for it too often.
This ziploc drawer organizer is amazing! I also added a smaller bamboo organizer to the empty space to store my glass straws! This storage solution made it so much easier to grab a ziplock bag or cut foil.
