If you’ve been looking for a festive dessert recipe, then you’ve come to the right place because Christmas rocky road may just be my new favorite. These easy Christmas treats are so fun to make because they’re a customizable dessert. This no-bake treat is also so perfect for holiday gatherings or for gifting in little bags!
It’s finally December and my bestie and I were eager to try Christmas rocky road! We made two types of rocky road using the different holiday flavors from Tony’s Chocolonely. She went for a candy cane flavored rocky road while I made a gingerbread version, and they both turned out so yummy!
Rocky road can be made all year round, but it makes for such a wonderful holiday chocolate recipe in particular because you can add so many holiday-themed ingredients and give it a super festive appearance. Rocky road is also so simple to make and saves you so much time.
To make these holiday-themed treats you can use any candy, fruit, cookies, etc. however, you’ll definitely need the chocolate for coating the ingredients. Marshmallows and something crunchy are classic Christmas Rocky Road ingredients, but they’re not a must.
Once you have all of your ingredients picked out, it’s time to get started on this Christmas dessert.
The microwave is the easiest method! After breaking up your chocolate bar, heat for 30 second intervals and stir in between. Be sure to not overcook the chocolate. Melting chocolate in a double broiler is the preferred method.
In a separate bowl, I combined the festive add-ins. Then, I poured the melted chocolate over the mix and stirred until everything was completely coated in chocolate. You can also do this step by pouring the add-ins into the melting chocolate versus the other way around.
Line your tray or pan with wax paper, and then pour the mixture into the prepared dish. I used a 20 oz. dish. Firmly press the mixture into the edges of the dish so it’ll come out even. Add toppings. Refrigerate for 3 hours or more.
Remove the rocky road out of the dish by lifting the wax paper edges out carefully. Transfer to a cutting board. Using a chef’s knife, cut into squares. Enjoy!
This customizable Christmas dessert is so much fun because you can make any variation you’d like! These are the recipes my friend and I came up with.
You can store the rocky road in an air-tight container or ziplock bags for your own personal use! But to make it cuter, you could also keep it in a cute container on your kitchen counter like one of these options below:
