Cucumbers are one of my favorite vegetables and they have so many incredible health benefits. I’m loving the new popular trend of making a cucumber salad in a jar. Today I’m sharing a cucumber salad recipe that is my current go to for a quick lunch. You can easily customize this salad to your liking by adjusting the ingredients and measurements, so I hope you enjoy!

What Is Cucumber Salad In A Jar

Cucumber salad in a jar is essentially the method of filling a jar with sliced cucumbers and other ingredients – depending on the actual recipe. This trend has been all over my TikTok feed, and I love that there are so many ways to make a salad using cucumber as a base. The trend gained popularity by a TikTok creator, Logan. I’ve seen the viral cucumber salad be made as a Chinese inspired cucumber salad, tzatziki cucumber salad, cucumber sushi salad, and more. Today I’m sharing recipes for all three!

Can You Make Cucumber Salad In A Jar

The jar method is great because it’s so easy to prep and doesn’t require multiple dishes! You simply add all of your ingredients to a 32 oz (quart size) jar and give it a good shake to combine. You can make it in the morning and store it in the jar for lunch, as well.

How To Make Cucumber Salad In A Jar

1. Sushi Cucumber Salad in a Jar

This recipe is so delicious and is essentially a deconstructed sushi mixture! When I make this salad, I place each bite inside of a seaweed sheet. It’s the perfect pairing! This recipe is really easy to put together and includes a high amount of protein, using canned tuna and Greek yogurt. If you don’t like tuna, you can replace it with smoked salmon. You can also adjust the spice of this recipe adding more or less sriracha.

Ingredients
  • 1 whole english cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 an avocado, diced
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 2 Tbsp pickled sushi ginger
  • 2 Tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise

Instructions
thinly slice cucumber
Step 1 – Chop Vegetables

Thinly slice the cucumber – using a mandoline slicer makes slicing the cucumber much faster. Chop the green onions (I use kitchen scissors!) and dice your avocado.

I chop and slice my vegetables directly into the jar.

Step 2 – Add the Ingredients

Add the vegetables to a 32 oz jar (or larger). Then add the tuna, ginger, sriracha, soy sauce, sesame seeds, greek yogurt, and mayonnaise.

Step 3 – Mix

Screw the lid on tight and shake vigorously until it’s well mixed.

Step 4 – Enjoy

I serve this mixture with seaweed but you can use crackers as well.

2. Chinese Inspired Cucumber Salad

This recipe is essentially a copycat of Din Tai Fung’s iconic recipe! This is most similar to the original cucumber salad in a jar recipe that went viral on TikTok. It is on the spicier side, but you can adjust the amount of chili oil if you are sensitive to that!

  • 1 English Cucumber
  • 1 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Tbsp. Low-sodium Soy sauce or Tamari
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar or Agave Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Chili Oil (Adjust to taste)
Equipment
Instructions
  1. Thinly slice your cucumber.
  2. Add the cucumber to your 32 oz jar, along with soy sauce, fish sauce, minced garlic, chili crunch, sesame oil, vinegar and the msg.
  3. Screw the lid on tight and shake vigorously to combine. Enjoy.

3. Tzatziki Cucumber Salad

I’m excited to make this version of a cucumber salad next. It’s a tzatziki Greek version with extra protein from the cottage cheese.

Ingredients
  • 1 whole cucumber, sliced
  • Red onion, sliced
  • Feta cheese
  • Olive oil
  • Cottage cheese
  • Greek yogurt
  • Minced garlic
  • Fresh dill
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh squeeze of lemon juice
Equipment
Instructions
  1. Thinly slice your cucumber and red onion. Chop up the dill.
  2. Add the vegetables to your 32 oz jar, along with cottage cheese, greek yogurt, minced garlic, fresh dill, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  3. Screw the lid on tight and shake vigorously to combine. Enjoy.
