While I think gift giving is so much fun all year round, the holidays are the best time to embrace the gift giving spirit! It’s the perfect time to show your loved ones how much they mean to you by giving them something thoughtful. Gifts don’t have to be expensive and they can even be DIY! I think that the best way to give a thoughtful gift is in basket form because curating a small group of items that all reflect the recipient shows how well you know them. Putting a gift basket together is much easier than you’d think and I’m going to show you exactly how to do it!

A Brrr basket is a wintery tradition that consists of surprising your friend with a festive themed gift basket! It doesn’t have to be Christmassy or Holiday themed if that doesn’t suite the recipient. Even using a wintery and snowy theme suites the “Brrr Basket” tone! No matter how many things are included in your gift basket, it will always make your loved one feel special to receive a gift unprompted.
Over the years I’ve made a few holiday gift basket for loved ones with so many different items! The options are truly endless but I’ve created a general list of inspiration – including ideas for all ages! If you choose to make multiple baskets, a lot of these items can be bought in multiples and broken up amongst recipients.
Adding food items, like sweets or an advent calendar can be such a great and inexpensive touch for a brrr basket. You can add a single packaged item to the gift basket or open a bag of chocolates or candy canes and use it as filler.

A plush item such as a blanket or scarf are so cute for the bottom of a gift basket! You could also prop up a pair of slippers or a stuffed animal as well.

A cozy home item is almost always my favorite part of a gift basket! I love to gift something cute and festive that the recipient may not buy for themself but that I know they’ll adore. Lifestyle or antique stores always have great options for this category too.
An activity such as a book or Lego set is so much fun too for the holiday season. It’s such a great way to get your loved ones in the holiday spirit.

Be sure to add at least one gift that is extra festive for the holiday season! Christmas gifts shouldn’t just be holiday related, however, when putting together a brr basket, it should definitely scream Christmas!

A useful item always makes for a terrific gift. That could mean a travel gadget or fun home find!

If you’re a crafty person, something homemade is such a great way to show your loved ones how much you care. I always find it so thoughtful when somebody makes you a gift tailored to your likes and personality!

I made this Christmas gift basket for my mom because she’s the ultimate homebody! So I put together a bunch of cute and cozy finds for her.
These little gift baskets were for my girlfriends last year and they were so fun to put together. A lot of these items came in multiples, which made this process even better!

I put this gift basket together for my sister who travels a lot! So I figured some helpful gadgets and finds would be most suitable for her.

Throughout the years, I’ve made so many fun gift baskets – if you need more ideas! If you’ve found this post before the wintery season, you should try making the fall version of a brrr basket called a “Boo Basket”.
